Mer has a passion for sharing the underwater world with all types of divers who value team and attention to detail. This journey evolved into Mer founding Wet Rocks Diving, a team of diving professionals, with the mission to impart a supportive learning environment for skills and academics as well as the softer psychological side of our sport. We provide appropriate challenges to help you progress towards achieving and ultimately surpassing your individual diving goals.
A recovering astrophysicist originally from Boston who began her diving off New England and in the Great Lakes, Mer is a full-time professional SCUBA educator, cave guide, and the founder of Wet Rocks Diving. Mer teaches Fundamentals, Recreational, Cave, Technical, and Instructor Training for Global Underwater Explorers and provides guiding and coaching to divers from all agency backgrounds. She is the only woman in the world teaching both GUE Tech and GUE Cave and the only woman currently teaching a Level 2 GUE Cave/Tech Course. She has been diving with GUE for over 18 years and is an avid explorer in both cave and ocean/wreck environments. Some of her recent research projects include: R/V Baseline Explorer CCR diver and volunteer Dive Safety Officer, Project Baseline, Bermuda Deep Reef Survey, Florida Deep Wreck Survey, Port Everglades Pre-Dredge Survey, NOAA Battle of the Atlantic/U576 Project, Battle of the Egadi Islands Italy Archeological Project, Woodville Karst Plain Project, Hawaii Speleological Survey: Kahuku Unit, and Madison Blue, Twin Dees, and Cathedral Canyons with Karst Underwater Research.
